Outdoor Lanterns

The Different Kinds of Outdoor Lanterns

It goes without saying that you need some light source when out camping. Whether you want it for some leisure reading or for the essential purpose of safety, outdoor lanterns are always a good option. There are many types of outdoor lanterns to choose from there is no one best choice. It all depends on the type of camping you plan to do, what you will be doing while at the camping and on the volume of baggage you can afford to carry.

One of the outdoor lanterns is the gas lantern. This type is especially ideal for cold weathers (much better than the battery-powered ones). Gas lanterns are also one of the brightest. And you don’t have to worry about consuming too much fuel as they usually come in adjustable. You can always turn your lights down when you don’t need them too bright. You can choose among a number of different types of fuel for your lanterns. The list includes butane, propane, kerosene and dual fuel. The white gas such as the propane and butane are not always readily available so you may be left with no other option than the dual fuel. You will never go wrong with a Coleman Northstar dual fuel lantern. The ideal fuel to use is the same one you use for your camp stove. It is a lot more convenient this way.

Another type of outdoor lantern that offers a good option is a battery camping lantern operated rechargeable. Battery powered lanterns are always the best in line when talking about convenience (in packing most especially). Now you don’t have to worry about fuel leaking in your back pack or anything like that. Plus, they are also very easy to adjust and to maneuver. This type of lantern does not get overly hot making it a good option when talking about safety.

Electric lanterns for camping are also a prime option in terms of safety and convenience. This type offers the same advantage of not having to carry flammable fuel in your backpack. And they are also rechargeable so you don’t have to spend money on costly batteries. More so, you don’t have to for through the hassle of pumping the lantern until it is ready for ignition. You simply have to press the switch on and you get the light that you need. And oh, this type of camping lantern is also adjustable so you can keep the light at your level of preference. You can keep it dim when you are about to sleep or intensely bright for some nice nature painting at night.

A LED camping lantern may also work for you. This type of outdoor lantern is also flameless and is convenient to carry around in your backpack. Though they come in compact sizes, the intensity of light they emit out-sizes them big time. A LED camping lantern is a good option when talking about both convenience and functionality.

Never underestimate the value of outdoor lighting when out camping gear. You don’t want your little vacation to turn into a big disaster.
