Camping is a part of life of most families. There are families who camp on a regular basis. They use this as a time to bond and get away from the busy life of the city.
However, families are not the only group that goes camping. This activity is also popular to group of friends. There are set of friends who camp to explore the different campsites across the country. Some plan this to relax while others do it to challenge their capacity.
Whomever you are with, you will surely need outdoor lantern when you are in the wilderness. You need to see what you are doing at night. Here are some suggestions to help you choose which type of lantern to use when you camp:

  1. Camping with family

When camping with your family, there are several things you have to consider. First is how long you are going to camp. The other consideration is the ages of your children. Propane lanterns are the popular choice for family camping. However, this is not advisable if you have young kids running around because it heats up the surface and could accidentally burn your playful child. It tends to be expensive as well when use in long period. You can use battery lanterns because it is safe even when there are children around. Bring extra batteries for this type of lantern for camping if you are staying longer in the wild.

  1. Camping with you partner

Camping is also a romantic getaway. If you are taking your partner, you can bring any type of lantern plus a candle lantern. Candle lanterns add a romantic feel to the environment. You can even use scented candles for this.

  1. Backpacking with pals

Campers who like to rough it up a bit usually bring their flashlights alone. However, there is a highly portable propane lantern camping that you can use. Use propane lanterns with lightweight canister. You can take it anywhere and you can use it for your camping stove too. You can even use it as a heater if it gets cold.

  1. If your campsite is not too dark

The main factor that people consider when bringing a lantern is the quality of light. Propane and gas lanterns have bright lights but also create noise. If you are heading to a campsite that is not that dark, use candle or battery lanterns. You can still use propane and gas if you want though.

  1. If you do not want to deal with noise

As mentioned above, there are certain types of coleman lanterns, which produce noise. Although it is not that loud, you may not find it comforting especially if you want to listen to the sound of nature. You can use candle and battery lanterns to avoid the noise.
These are just some suggestions that you can consider when looking for lanterns for camping. You can still use propane or gas lanterns even if you have kids with you. Just make sure that you observe safety precautions to avoid accidents.
